Whether on an airplane beside a stranger, on the couch talking until 4am with a friend, or in a writing session …I’ve always found myself lost in conversations, others’ stories, and my own curiosity. I’m a culture vulture and I love to learn about people. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve walked away from a conversation equally full and equally frustrated that I wasn’t going to be able to keep some of the thought processes, stories, and lessons forever. As a producer and songwriter, I have the privilege of working with so many unique, thoughtful, and creative people. I also often found myself in “aha” surreal moments. If only sixteen year old me could see the very possible reality of life as an artist and the many shapes and routes and forms it can take. From veteran tour bus drivers, studio engineers, songwriters, Grammy winning producers, the unforeseen gift that music has given me, is the community of self created and curious people it’s brought into my life and through my studio doors. I thought to myself, well shit. Hit record. In 2023, I started a podcast called Enlightened… or Whatever. I invite these tinkerers, thinkers, and teachers of all kinds into my studio for a laid back, deep, and sometimes very silly conversation. It’s a freestyle. It’s about nothing, it’s about everything. It’s something I wish I had when I was sixteen. I mostly wanted an excuse to capture the amazing conversations I get to have. I hope you like them too.
