Pretending Happy

I think I get it now
I think I figured it out
Won’t let it slip through my fingers
It’s got me on my toes, I’m the only one who knows
I loose my senses when it lingers

And it hurts just a little bit too much
Sore to the touch
It’s a little bit much when

I can’t find my happy
While I’m busy carrying heavy
Hearing every song that tells me
Just pose and smile and look alive
But I’m coming up empty
Pretending, pretending happy

Lost in a lonely place
Where my mind is a maze
Picking pixels like they know me well
And I watch the color change
Feel it go from my face
Realizing how much I can tell

That it hurts just a little bit too much
Sore to the touch
It’s a little bit much when

I can’t find my happy
While I’m busy carrying heavy
Hearing every song that tells me
Just pose and smile and look alive
But I’m coming up empty
Pretending, pretending happy

I think I get it now
I think I figured it out
(So scared of the feeling this time)
(Like it’s trapped in the back of my mind)
I think I get it now
I think I figured it out
But I’m coming up empty
Pretending, pretending happy
